New Jersey Casino Control Commission

The Casino Control Commission is the independent licensing authority of New Jersey's casinos and its key employees. As a quasi-judicial panel, the Commission conducts hearings on contested casino key employee license matters as well as appeals from decisions of, or penalties imposed by, the Division of Gaming Enforcement (Division). The Commission is comprised of up to three members, appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. Commissioners serve staggered, five-year terms and can only be removed for cause. By law, no more than two Commissioners can be of the same political party, a requirement that provides political balance on the panel. The success and ongoing viability of the gaming industry remains inextricably linked to the public's confidence that the State of New Jersey will ensure that people in the industry possess good character, honesty and integrity. Stewardship over that public confidence is a principal responsibility of the Commission and its Chairman.
